Staked Through the Heart

Note to self:

All this stuff about setting stakes being talked around all of my watched blogs really hits the bell for me. Need to rewrite Scattershot's die mechanix so that stakes are a part of the entry process rather than a result of Catastrophic Failure.

I should also consider mirroring Solomon's Auction. I always like the bidding process and isn't that what ought to happen when the dice come out anyway? Stakes that engage the players would really include bidding, right?

Likewise I should consider putting more conflict resolution into the lower levels of play than the action resolution set up in the higher.

All in all, I want to turn the game inside out because it didn't have the Experience Dice in any of the earlier drafts, yet they're the coolest feature.

And of course, let's not forget that when I left off, I was just beginning to look into how I could set up Scattershot as a system of introducing / resolving complications (which, now that I think about it was a weird way of saying I was turning it into a conflict resolution game).

And another main thrust I need to pursue is how I can turn 'No Myth Gamemastering' into system and then explain the adds as 'higher level.'

The whole upthrust of this 'design intention turn' is not invalidating the 'Transitional' design goal, but in fact augmenting the 'find your level' metric that allows play to transition to what the players like without requiring either an understanding of gaming preferences or a paradigm shift.

For you, dear reader, I will explain any of the above that you ask me to.

Got a link to Scattershot's text? I'd like to read it.

Your Wish is My Command

Well, you could start with the hub article I put on the Forge, but the Mechanix Article was so mangled, I reposted it here. Post questions there.

This was where I left off so long ago. I was on the verge of converting to a 'complication resolution' approach to link up with the upcoming implementation of the "No Myth Gamemastering" System. It is also short a few Emergent Techniques and an entire completed Genre Expectation. ...But that's "in development" for ya.
